We are looking for an experienced Data Engineering Lead / Evangelist to join our team at NN and help us achieve our goal of becoming a socially responsible tech company that delivers digital products our customers love.
For the Data & AI department at NN Group IT, we are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Lead / Evangelist who will help raise the data engineering capability across the organization. This role is a core team member of the Data Engineering Guild, driving standards, best practices and community enablement, and acting as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the DLP Data Engineering learning track.
The NN Data Engineering Guild consists of 270+ data engineers and data platform engineers spread across 10+ business units and countries.
Your impact as Data Engineering Lead / Evangelist
In this role, you will be a technical leader, coach and community builder for NN’s Data Engineering Guild — our global community of data engineers.
You will raise data-engineering maturity across a large, federated enterprise by defining best practices, fostering an engaged engineering community and driving adoption of common tools and platforms. By combining deep hands-on expertise with exceptional communication and coaching skills, you will help diverse teams deliver trusted, scalable and well-governed data products more efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Define and drive data-engineering standards and best practices, establishing robust engineering guardrails adopted by teams across business units.
- Organize and facilitate Guild events such as meetups, tech talks, office hours and hackathons.
- Serve as a visible champion for shared success, encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing across teams.
- Evangelize reusable engineering patterns, platform capabilities and shared assets.
- Own and continuously improve NN’s Data Engineering learning track, part of its internal Data Literacy Program.
- Keep the curriculum up to date, relevant and engaging, including exercises and assessments.
- Deliver training workshops and onboarding programmes for new and experienced data engineers.
- Act as a coach and mentor, helping engineers across all business units advance their skills.
- Develop clear documentation, guidelines, FAQs and playbooks, keeping knowledge assets accessible and current.
- Represent Data Engineering in cross-domain forums and communities of practice, including Data Science, Architecture and Engineering.
- Work closely with data-engineering teams in different business units and the central Data Platform team to align on best practices and standards.
The team you’ll join
You will be part of the Data & AI enablement ecosystem, working across the organization to strengthen data-engineering capabilities.
You will collaborate closely with DLP stakeholders and the Data Engineering Guild core team to drive standards, community engagement and adoption. NN values teamwork, knowledge-sharing and continuous learning, and actively encourages innovation and personal development.
